Professional Background

Jeff has been professionally involved in IT since 2002. He has extensive experience as an IT consultant, network and systems engineer and administrator, information systems security specialist, and computer technician. Throughout his career, he has gained a great deal of knowledge related to: implementing and maintaining servers, workstations, and networks; providing IT security analysis; assessing network vulnerability; planning for business continuity and disaster recovery; and conducting network penetration testing.

Background

Born and raised in Panama City, FL, Jeff has spent most of his life here on the Gulf Coast. He’s grown to love our community and has enjoyed watching it grow and take shape over the years. One of Jeff’s favorite childhood memories comes from the Panama City “blizzard” of 1989, when a couple inches of snow actually stuck to the ground long enough to enjoy it. He and his brother had a blast with their dad giving them snow-shovel rides around the lawn, “cross-country skiing”, and “snow-boarding” down “gigantic” 6-foot hills with the wooden decks of their skateboards.

Jeff and his wife Kristie feel blessed to have most of their immediate family in Panama City and look forward to raising their family here. They love the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico, the World’s Most Beautiful Beaches, the bays and inland waterways and lakes, and the outdoor adventure opportunities of nearby state parks. They also enjoy frequent getaways to nearby places such as Destin, Grayton Beach, Seaside (where Jeff proposed to the love of his life!), Mexico Beach, Apalachicola, Cape San Blas, and St. George Island.

Education

Jeff graduated in 2002 from Covenant Christian School. In 2006, he went on to earn an Associate in Arts degree in Pre-Business Administration from Gulf Coast State College. In 2009, he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Florida State University. Jeff graduated at the top of his FSU class and received the Outstanding Graduate award.

Jeff has also earned numerous certifications from Microsoft, as well as a security certification from the international Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). This certification is approved by the U.S. Department of Defense. His certifications are listed below.

A Family Man

Jeff is married to his lovely bride, Kristie, and they have four children. Jeff and Kristie certainly feel blessed. “We have learned so much raising our children...about sacrificial love, grace, patience, perseverance, and joy. We know they are a gift we don't deserve and thank God for them.” Kristie is a homemaker as well as home-school teacher for their children. She is devoted to pouring her love and energy into her family. She wants their home to be the warmest, most cozy, and inviting place possible for their family and friends.

Devotion to God and Community

Jeff and Kristie are active church members. They enjoy serving the fellow church body and the community through various outreach ministries. “It is a joy and a privilege to serve others through the talents God has given us, and we give Him thanks and praise for it.” Jeff and Kristie’s faith is the foundation of their lives; through that faith they are blessed with a strong marriage.
Serving his Country

In 1999, Jeff’s senior year in high school, he enlisted in the Florida Army National Guard and began part-time training with the Reconnaissance Platoon of the 3rd Battalion, 124th Infantry Regiment, 53rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team. Jeff completed Infantry basic training in Fort Benning, Georgia, and then returned home to Panama City to continue training with the local Recon Platoon.

In January 2003, Jeff shipped off to Fort Stewart, Georgia with the 53rd Infantry Brigade in preparation for military deployment to the Middle East. Jeff served proudly and honorably with his unit in Kuwait and Iraq from February 2003 through March 2004 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his deployment, Jeff and his unit spent nine months in the heart of Baghdad conducting daily street patrols, reconnaissance missions, and community revitalization.

One of Jeff’s most memorable moments was participating in a truly historic event. Jeff played in a soccer game with local Iraqi citizens in a community stadium – a stadium his unit helped revitalize after clearing out thousands of firearms, explosives, and munitions.

Recreation

Jeff loves spending his leisure time with family and friends. He enjoys golf, fishing, shooting, camping, kayaking, and riding bikes with his family. He stays busy with work and church responsibilities but says, “I’m a family-man at heart. I take joy in the responsibility and privilege of working hard to provide for my family. I try to be there for them whenever they need me and as much as possible.”
